The Flavourworks is running a name and design competition to spruce up one of our nitrogen tanks.
Run in conjunction with Somerset Live and Western Gazette, we’re offering the chance to win a meal for two at The Wagtail in Wincanton, as well as the opportunity to unveil the tank’s new design.
The rules are simple: name and think of a design idea for the tank (see examples below).
Oh, there is also one more… it can’t be called Tanky McTankface.
Chris Ormrod, the MD of Flavourworks – or “chief flavourista” as he prefers to be called – explained the competition in more depth.
“Like most food businesses which chill or freeze products, we have a tall tank outside the building which contains nitrogen. It’s a pretty bland unit and normally it gets repainted once in a while with another bland colour.
“We used to be called Markus Products but we rebranded ourselves as The Flavourworks earlier this year, with some colourful new designs outside and inside the factory.
“Our tank supplier BOC agreed that we could also decorate the tower however we wished. So, as a bit of fun, we thought we should have a competition to imagine a new design for it and to come up with a name.
“Suggestions we’ve already had include ‘The Big Chilli’, painting it entirely red with a green stalk, which is pretty good.
“I can’t wait to see what your readers come up with. The only veto is that the design must be legal, relevant and decent – plus I am excluding the name Tanky McTankface!”
The Gazette editor, Tim Lethaby, and Chris Ormrod will choose the winning design at the end of November.
